Montblanc x Olympic Heritage Paris 1924 Midsize Ballpoint
"Around the World in Eighty Days" is the famous adventure
novel by French writer Jules Verne, published in 1873. Mont Blanc brings this fantastic tale of world travel to life - not least through the elegant, highly graphic design elements inspired by motifs from the Victorian period of this adventure classic.
The midsize ballpoint pen in blue precious resin references the first part of the voyage, the crossing of seas and oceans via the Mediterranean and the Suez Canal.
The cap is adorned with a milled pattern of the key elements of this story of blue ocean waves and playing cards.
The wave pattern is reminiscent of the Victorian style that emerged in the United Kingdom and the British Empire during the Victorian era from the 1830s to the 1890s.
The clip is decorated with a ace of spades symbol in black lacquer,
in reference to the English card game "Whist" which was popular in the
18th and 19th centuries. The suits of cards refer to the betting set between Mr. Fogg and his friends
of the Reform Club, and also to the playful personality
Fogg's refer to.
The length of the journeys is stamped into the cap head: 18 days from London to Bombay and 80 days in all.
