In 2018, Montblanc will continue the edition of the Montblanc Great Characters series with the Montblanc Great Characters James Dean Limited Edition Writing Instruments. James Dean, this unforgettable American actor, dedicates this edition to Montblanc. The writing instruments make an interesting reference to the various films and are very special in their shape and choice of material. The shape of the writing instruments is inspired by the knife James Dean used in the film "Because they don't know what they're doing". The shape of the clip is based on the rifle made of "giants". The cap surface is made of grenadilla wood. The 925 sterling silver cone is engraved with a pattern reminiscent of the radiator grille of his Porsche 550 Spyder. The cap ring is engraved with one of Dean's most famous quotes: "Dream as if you´ll live forever. Live as if you´ll die today". A racing flag is engraved on the handcrafted rhodium-plated 18-K gold nib in memory of his passion for car racing. With cap the fountain pen is very large (length 14.8 cm), without cap it corresponds exactly to the dimensions of the LeGrand but is much heavier (with cap 80.9 g). This higher weight is very comfortable and the fountain pen fits very well in the hand. We have the fountain pen in stock as standard with nib width "M" (medium), but would be happy to have the nib replaced in any other available nib width at Montblanc. This usually extends the delivery time by 14 days.
